Putin tells BBC western leaders deceived Russia

BBC Russia editor Steve Rosenberg asked Vladimir Putin about his plans for the country’s future during the president’s annual televised year-end event.
The Russian leader responded by saying he was calling for more respect from other Western leaders.
“Western politicians created the current situation with their own hands,” Putin said, adding that “they constantly talk about preparations for war with Russia.”
The president also said plans to attack Europe were “nonsense.”
