Putin’s plan to carve up Ukraine

In his call on Saturday, Trump moved to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and European leaders, where he asked them to stop trying the cease -fire with Moscow.

Putin asked Donetsk and Luhansk to withdraw Ukraine to end the war, and Trump said he would stop fighting elsewhere if this request was accepted. Financial Times made this request with Trump in Alaska on Friday on Friday.

In his call on Saturday, Trump moved to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and European leaders, where he asked them to stop trying the cease -fire with Moscow. The movement will give Moscow the full control of an area that has occupied for more than 10 years, and its troops have been moving at the fastest speed since November.

In exchange for Donetsk and Luhansk, Putin said that his forces had already wide areas in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia and that he would not start new attacks to get more land than three people familiar with negotiations.

Putin, Ukraine’s current situation (which means that Ukraine will lose its independence in the present form) and the war that will push NATO’s expansion back to the east did not leave its main demands to “solve root causes”.

However, if a former senior Kremlin official, the Russian President thinks that the “root causes” has been solved, he is ready to compromise other issues.

The Russian forces control about 70% of Donetsk, but the western cities are still kept by Ukraine and are very important for their military and defense on the Eastern Front. In Luhansk, Russia controls almost everything except for a small role in the West.

People close to Zelenskyy said he would not accept to give up Donetsk, but when they meet on Monday, August 18, he is willing to talk to Trump in Washington about the earth.

Zelenskyy is ready to discuss the issue at a three -way meeting with Trump and Putin.

According to a Ukrainian official, Trump said he could negotiate Zelenskyy about Putin’s small parts of Sumy and Kharkiv to return to Kiev’s control. However, the authority said that Russia is not serious because it controls very little in these areas.

Another person who knows the issue, Zelenskyy’nin Trump’ın Ukraine’a welcomed the US security guarantees offered, but the details are not yet clear, he said. The authority added that the two presidents would talk more about it on Monday.

Putin’s regional demands have been harder since April when Russia could freeze the entire front line if Trump’s ambassador Steve Witkoff solved the “root causes”.

“Freeze the whole front” means that Russia will stop the war and try to capture more land along the war line. The war would not officially end, but the façade line would remain constant without a new attack or progress.

Financial Times did not interpret what Trump discussed with Putin.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said to FT: “It was a very important conversation that could help to reach an agreement. Negotiations will continue, but the details cannot be explained to the public.”

After returning to Moscow, Putin said that the best travel to the best authorities in the Kremlin was “timely and very useful”, according to state TV images. He said that the crisis explained the causes of Trump and that any peace agreement should discuss these reasons.

Trump entered the meeting warning on Friday if Putin rejected a ceasefire. However, he did not leave anything and replaced Putin’s demands for European leaders for land privileges.

In a social media broadcast on Saturday, Trump told European leaders to stop pushing with Putin for the ceasefire and advise Zelenskyy to “make an agreement with Russia.

After a call with European leaders, including the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron, the best way to end the Russian-Ukraine War was a direct peace agreement, not a ceasefire agreement, but a direct peace agreement.

“If everything goes well, we will plan a meeting with President Putin,” Trump said.

The Kremlin said they did not talk to Putin and Trump’s Trump about a three -way meeting with Zelenskyy in Anchorage (Alaska).

Russian demand and Trump’s refusal to push for the ceasefire, the US president proposes terrain swaps as part of a peace agreement, will worry again before the Alaska meeting.

The three -hour meeting gave Putin, who has been sought by the International Criminal Court for war crimes by the International Criminal Court since the occupation of 2022 Ukraine. Trump welcomed him in Anchorage with a red carpet, and even seen a joke with him before the talks.

During Trump’s call with European leaders on Saturday, Macron said Putin could not be trusted and reminded the Minsk Armistice Agreement, where Putin had never happened 10 years ago.

“Putin plays a long game and will not keep the promises,” he said, a European diplomat who knows the call. “Trump is eager to make an agreement, but Putin doesn’t rush.”

According to three familiar people, the willing coalition, a group of countries that promises to implement security guarantees for Ukraine after a peace agreement, will meet on Sunday.

The coalition includes France, England, Germany, Canada and Japan.
