Qantas’ direct flight between Perth and London now stopping in Singapore amid Iran war

Qantas’ direct flight between Perth and London will take a circuitous route from Wednesday as rising tensions in the Middle East force the leading Australian carrier to reroute its route.

The non-stop service will now include a mandatory refueling stop in Singapore, allowing the carrier to avoid certain airspaces and ensure the safety of its passengers and crew.

While the detour will add time to the journey, Qantas confirmed that the break will also allow the plane to carry heavier loads, freeing up seats for an additional 60 passengers per flight.

Qantas stated that this was a temporary measure and the situation was under ongoing review.

A Qantas spokesperson confirmed that although the London route required these urgent adjustments, all other international and domestic flights were operating as usual.

It is currently unknown when a return to 17-hour direct flights will be possible.
