Qantas launches largest sale in five years with 1.9 million discounted one-way tickets on 25 domestic routes

In its own words, Qantas made the biggest sale in the last five years, reducing the cost of 1.9 million tickets.
The sale starts on Tuesday and will be open for six days, valid for one-way tickets on 25 domestic routes on selected dates.
“This is our biggest domestic sale in five years,” Qantas domestic general manager Markus Svensson said.
“Some of the best holiday destinations are on our doorstep and this discount makes them accessible to more people.
“From hidden regional gems to capital city favourites, we make it easy to discover our own backyard.
“With almost two million seats and very affordable prices in both business and economy, it’s a great time to focus on your next holiday to explore Australia or reconnect with friends and family.”
Notable discounted fares include $99 one-way between Byron Bay and Sydney in economy.
Business seats between Melbourne and Sydney are also available for savings on the block for $299.
Typically expensive flights to the top destination will also be reduced, with tickets between Darwin and Melbourne dropping to $289.
While the biggest sale in five years will direct travelers to the Qantas website, the consumer watchdog was forced last week to warn of a sophisticated scam offering travel credits, refunds and loyalty points.
The National Anti-Fraud Center has revealed that Qantas, Telstra and Coles are now the three most targeted loyalty schemes.
“These messages often redirect people to websites that are very similar to our official login pages,” a Qantas spokesperson said of the latest scam.
