The police were called to intervene around 2:15 p.m. regarding an accident between a van and other cars on the 18e Street, between avenue de Vitré and avenue Maufils.
The vehicle hit a building before overturning on the road, explained Sandra Dion, spokesperson for the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ).
Its driver, a 62-year-old man, was transported to a hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
Three other occupants of a second vehicle – a woman and children who were preparing to enter the 18e Street from Avenue de La Ronde – were also taken to a hospital to treat minor injuries.
A perimeter was established in the area in order to preserve the scene so that investigators as well as technicians from the Forensic Identification Unit can determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.
