Reading College stabbing LIVE: Lockdown as police swarm building after ‘knife attack’ | UK | News

Police have confirmed that a child has been injured following the “attack” at Reading College.

Following news of the stabbing this afternoon, the campus was placed on lockdown, with students and staff allowed to leave gradually.

Armed police remain at the scene as officers deal with the incident and a police helicopter was seen circling over the campus.

An eyewitness said they saw students “lying on the ground” due to “an issue with a student.”

They told the Reading Chronicle: “There was a problem with a student and all the students were lying on the floor. The campus was in lockdown and all the children were in isolation.”

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “We are aware of an assault with injuries in Kings Road, Reading. A child has been injured and is receiving medical treatment. The search, supported by armed officers, continues and a visible police presence remains.

“While officers work quickly to resolve the situation, we advise citizens to avoid the area at this time. We will provide you with an update when we are in a position to do so.”
