20 Students Hurt in Clash Over Chicken Distribution at Kakatiya University

-Warangal: Nearly 20 students were injured in the clash that broke out following a dispute over food distribution at the Kakatiya University Male Dormitory in Hanamkonda district.
The incident took place during lunch on Sunday, when MBA students alleged that members of the lunch committee, led by economics students, had withheld two to three buckets of chicken. An argument broke out when MBA students asked for portions for about 20 classmates who arrived late.
According to university sources, the argument escalated further when MBA students allegedly attacked members of the dinner committee and later called their seniors. The situation worsened after a leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) intervened.
Witnesses said MBA students objected to the intervention, leading to clashes between ABVP members and students reportedly backed by the Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU). It was claimed that sticks were used in the clashes.
At least three students suffered head injuries, and 15 to 20 students suffered minor injuries. The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Although the shooting occurred on Sunday afternoon, details emerged after videos spread on social media on Monday.
The university administration confirmed the incident and said that the atmosphere on campus was tense. A formal investigation was ordered to establish the sequence of events and identify those involved.
While security was tightened in the dormitory building, campus police and university security personnel were deployed to prevent further incidents. Authorities said disciplinary action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
