Although analysts previously foreseen a small decline, they expect a slight increase in gas and electricity prices between October and December.
It is likely to increase a price of approximately 1% per year, which means that campaignists’ relatively high energy bills will mean another winter.
Ofgem’s price limit determines the maximum value that can be collected for each gas and electrical unit for about 21 million households in England, Scotland and Wales.
The cover determines the price of each unit, but not the total invoice that depends on how much energy you use.
It will be set to 07:00 BST and the change will enter into force at the beginning of October and take three months.
