More bullet train projects? PM Modi asks engineers working on Mumbai-Ahmedabad project to document…

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is approximately 508 km long, with 352 km in Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and 156 km in Maharashtra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently asked engineers working on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project to document their experience; as this may be useful in planning and executing similar projects elsewhere. Prime Minister Modi made these remarks while interacting with them in Surat on Saturday.

Repeated experiments should be avoided: PM

He said India should avoid repeated experiments and instead copy what it learns from existing models. The Prime Minister stated that if the experiences gained in the project are recorded and compiled like the ‘Blue Book’, the country can move decisively towards the wide-scale implementation of high-speed trains.

Responding to an observation by the chief engineering officer on India’s first bullet train project, the Prime Minister said, “If your experiences are recorded and a ‘blue book’ of sorts is prepared, it will help the country a lot as we move towards building more bullet trains. We don’t want everyone to start from scratch every time. What is learned here should be replicated elsewhere.” he said.

PM Modi emphasized that copying will only make sense if there is a clear understanding of why certain actions are being taken. Otherwise, he warned, proliferation could occur without purpose or direction. Asserting that keeping such records could benefit future students and contribute to nation building, the prime minister said, “We will dedicate our lives here and leave something valuable for the country.”

Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor

The MAHSR project covers an area of approximately 508 km, including 352 km in Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and 156 km in Maharashtra. The corridor will connect major cities including Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi, Boisar, Virar, Thane and Mumbai, marking a transformative step in India’s transport infrastructure.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad travel time by bullet train

Once completed, the bullet train will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to almost two hours and will revolutionize intercity travel by making it faster, easier and more comfortable. The project is expected to accelerate regional development by increasing business, tourism and economic activities along the entire corridor.
