Fawlty Towers actress Pruncella Scales dies aged 93

Fawlty Towers actress Prunella Scales has died at the age of 93, her family has confirmed.

Scales was best known for her role as hotel manager Sybil Fawlty, Basil’s domineering wife, in the classic British sitcom.

The actress died “peacefully at her home in London yesterday”, her sons Samuel and Joseph said.

Queen Elizabeth II in Alan Bennett’s 1991 televised play A Question of Attribution. She was nominated for a Bafta for her role as Elizabeth.
