Rahul Gandhi brings up Epstein files, Adani allegations in Lok Sabha

Raising the issue during the hearing, Gandhi questioned the government over reports of references to the Prime Minister in recently released investigative documents into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
India had previously vehemently denied such a reference, with the Ministry of External Affairs dismissing it as “nonsensical musings of a convicted criminal” deserving of “utmost contempt”.
Gandhi also noted the ongoing scrutiny of Adani Group in the US, citing transactions involving the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Congress had previously questioned whether the Prime Minister would respond or facilitate cooperation with the SEC’s investigation against the business group.
The government has consistently denied any wrongdoing and denied allegations linking the Prime Minister to the Epstein papers. Adani Group also denied the accusations made against it.
These remarks sparked fierce debate in Parliament as members of the Treasury panel objected to the Opposition’s references.
