‘Rahul Gandhi defaming India and its democracy,’ says Amit Shah over shirtless protest at AI Summit

Addressing a public rally in Guwahati, Shah reaffirmed the opposition’s right to protest but condemned them for protesting at the Artificial Intelligence Summit, which he said was a global platform to strengthen India and not a place to get involved in “personal politics”.
Shah said that Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has started to oppose India in his opposition against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The Congress tried to denigrate the country by removing the clothes at the Artificial Intelligence Summit. We are all in politics. We were also in the opposition, but that too has its place. You turned the summit into a personnel politics platform where the whole world gathered to see India and invest in India,” he said.
“I want to tell Rahul Gandhi that you have started going against India in your opposition against Narendra Modi and the BJP. Instead of apologizing, Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress workers protesting half-naked were lion-hearted. I don’t think any responsible political party will do this,” he added.
Amit Shah also challenged the Congress to oppose the BJP “with all its might”, but criticized them for “narrowing the possibilities” of Indian youth by demonstrating in this way on the global platform.
“He (Rahul Gandhi) is defaming India and its democracy in front of the world. You can oppose us, you can oppose us with all your might, but you will run away from Parliament. But when the whole world comes to see the youth power of India, you are narrowing down their opportunities there. The people of India will not forgive you,” he said. Shah also praised Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s efforts to make Assam a “complete state” in the healthcare sector.
“He made Assam self-sufficient in the healthcare sector even before the end of his tenure. Himanta was telling me in the car today that he wants to make Assam in such a way that not a single patient needs to go outside Assam for treatment. We want to create a state where poor patients from Bengal and the Northeast can seek treatment… I am very happy that patients who used to travel from here to Chennai, Mumbai, Karnataka and Delhi for cancer treatment can now get treatment in government hospitals, closer to their families,” he said.
During his visit to Assam, Shah inaugurated the newly built Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati.
He also inaugurated Golaghat and Tinsukia cancer centres.
Additionally, the Union Home Minister virtually laid the foundation stone of super specialty hospitals in Diphu, Jorhat and Barpeta Medical Colleges and Hospitals. He also laid the foundation stone of Swasthya Bhawan at Sixmile in Guwahati and Abhayapuri District Hospital.
