Rahul Gandhi Tries His Hand At Making ‘Imarti’, ‘Besan Laddoo’ At Old Delhi’s Ghantewala Sweet Shop

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday released a video in which he tried making ‘imarti’ and ‘besan laddoo’ at the famous Ghantewala sweet shop in Old Delhi, greeting people on Diwali and asking them to share how they made the festival special. Gandhi posted the video on X and said that the real sweetness of Diwali lies not just in the ‘thali’ but also in relationships and community.

“I tried making imarti and besan laddoo at the famous and historical Ghantewala sweet shop in Old Delhi,” the opposition leader in the Lok Sabha said.

“The sweetness of this century-old, iconic shop remains the same – pure, traditional and heartwarming,” Gandhi said.

“Tell us, how do you celebrate your Diwali and make it special?” he said.

In another post on X, Gandhi greeted the people of the country on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.

“May India be illuminated with lamps of joy, may the light of happiness, prosperity and love spread into every home,” the former Congress president said. In the video, the shop owner tells Gandhi that they have served his grandmother, father and other members of the family and now they are waiting to provide sweets for his marriage. Gandhi just smiled at this suggestion.

The Congress leader then tries his hand at making ‘imarti’ and ‘besan laddoo’.

Gandhi notes that the desserts are made in a traditional way and a lot of effort and skill goes into it.
