Rain fury: 21 houses partially damaged in East Godavari; all tourist spots in ASR district closed

The Godavari region continues to carry the burden of harsh weather conditions. In the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, at least 21 houses were damaged due to the heavy wind in Velichintala Gudem in the East Godavari region, while all the touristic places in the Alluri Sitarama Raju region were closed to more orders after the heavy rain polluted the region.

Approximately 20 trees were removed from the roots of Velichintala Gudem in the Gopalapuram mandate of the East Godavari region. The electric poles were also damaged and broke the power supply to the village.

However, the Kovvuru Revenue Department Officer Rani Susmitha said that no losses were reported after examining the village.

Rani Susmitha, “A community hall and a government primary school opened for the relaxation of the affected families. The villagers will stay in these facilities until the power supply is restored. The restoration of power and other facilities is expected until Sunday,” he said.
