On New Year’s Eve, the Rajasthan police created a huge uproar as they recovered more than 100 kg of explosives from a car. The police detained and interrogated two people in the vehicle. The operation was led by the District Special Task Force (DST).

DSP Mrityunjay Mishra told ANI: “Explosives seized from Maruti Ciaz car. 150 kg of ammonium nitrate hidden in urea sacks seized. Police also seized 200 explosive batteries and 1100 meters of wire. Two accused have been arrested. One is Surendra and the other is Surendra Mochi… Investigation is on…”

The police seized the material from the Tonk-Jaipur highway in Baroni Police Station area during a vehicle check drive organized specifically to prevent any untoward incident on New Year’s Eve, December 31.

Reports also state that the suspects were heading towards Boondi to illegally transport explosive material and were stopped on the way. According to ANI, several bags stored in the car contained ammonium nitrate. The two arrested men belong to Boondi district.

According to further reports, the men had allegedly hidden the explosive material inside sacks of urea fertilizer to avoid detection during transportation.

The number of items indicates the seriousness of the crime.
