Ramadoss, estranged son Anbumani pay separate tributes on anniversary of Vanniyar reservation agitation

On September 17, 2025, Patali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss and his alienized son Anbumani Ramadoss pointed to 21 people killed during the 1987 Vanniyar reservation agitation.

Mr. Ramadoss was accompanied by his eldest daughter P. Gandhimathi, Pennagaram Mla and former PMK President GK Mani and Vanniyar Sangam President PU. Tha. Arulmozhi paid flower tribute to the portraits of 21 people in Tailapuram. Mr. Ramadoss also paid tribute in a monument planted for the victims in Sithani before going to Cuddalore.

Speaking with reporters, Mr. Ramadoss said that 21 people did not go in vain and people benefit from the reservation of people’s lakhs. PMK, Vanniyars for education and employment of 10.5% internal reservations are constantly struggling for the implementation and the demand will turn into a reality, he said.

Mr. Anbumani paid a few more places in the tribute and villpuram region in Sithani, accompanied by its supporters.

The facilities of Vanniyar Sangam in Tindivanam, where PMK leaders generally paid traditional tributes on the anniversary of agitation, were closed on Wednesday. After Ramadoss and Mr. Anbumani’s supporters entered a fiery debate on access to the office, he was sealed by police and income officials last week.

A large police staff were deployed in front of the office.
