Rohl has held positive talks with Rangers but the club is in no rush to make another appointment, even if it means the German exits the process.
Rohl, who coached at RB Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich and was the assistant coach of Germany, was appointed by Sheffield Wednesday in October 2023, becoming the youngest coach in the English Football League.
He saved the club from relegation and they finished 12th the following season, but Rohl left this summer due to the club’s ownership and financial problems.
News he has left contention for the Ibrox job comes on the same day former Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes dismissed speculation linking him with the vacancy, saying he was focused on keeping Heart of Midlothian at the top of the Premiership.
Martin left Rangers after just 17 games in charge, with his side sitting eighth in the table after picking up just one win in six games.
They also suffered a heavy 9-1 defeat to Club Brugge in the Champions League qualifiers and lost the first two matches of the Europa League.
Rangers will host Dundee United in domestic league action on Saturday.
