Rapist faked his death and fled to Spain after raping women on dates | UK | News
A bad gym boss imitating his own death was found guilty of raping two women he met on the dating sites.
James Clacher disappeared in May 2022 as he faced serious charges.
During a hearing at the Supreme Court of Scotland in Glasgow, the jury members heard how he left his car in the Argyll and Bute rural car, and left a fraudulent suicide note that he thought of getting his own life.

Clacher from Northern Lanarkshire raped his first victim at his home in Troon, South Ayrashire on 24 August 2019. The jury members made two criminal decisions against two separate rape charges on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Bruce Fyfe said: “In this case, it is difficult to understand the distress and painful plate causing women. I hope this conviction brings them some kind of comfort. Now will face the results of his actions.
“Following the missing person report, comprehensive investigations were conducted to determine where it was.
“As the investigation into the lost person and sexual crimes progressed, it was understood that the country left the country to get rid of justice after imitating his own death.
“We worked closely with our international law enforcement colleagues, including the National Crime Agency and the Spanish police, and the perpetrator was subjected to return transactions.
“This conviction shows our commitment to research serious crimes and follow those who try to avoid prosecution wherever they go.
“If any person is experiencing or experiencing any sexual abuse, we have detectives dedicated to investigating such crimes. Please report this and make sure you will be fully supported and relaxed.”
