Det Supt Lewis Basford said to the BBC: “The more concern to us, the message content, stressed that the rape he met there was the victims of the rape there, and then they texted him and challenged him in some of the actions we would define as rape.”

According to Met, at least 82 men were identified for a screening after being informed about Carl’s health, and watched quickly to NHS.

It is illegal to transfer a deliberate or reckless sexually transmitted infection. In accordance with the law of crimes against the person, it means great physical damage.

One of Carl’s victims told the police that he felt “weak” because there was nothing I can do.

He said: “He made me feel that I wasn’t important, making me feel less than man.

“The main reason I come to the police, I wanted to prevent this from being another.”

Another said that “people have damaged me to have any romantic relationships in the future because of their general thoughts about HIV.”

“He annoyes my brain because I think I can do it differently. I still struggle with this guilty feeling.”

‘Reckless transmission’

Speaking about Carl’s crimes, Det Supt Basford said, “Every sacrifice-Survivor is an option and decision that he will not talk to the police or not to receive medical assistance”.

He told BBC that Carl “decided not to take the drug” for HIV.

“He chose to lie about his status during all his encounters and interactions with individuals.

“The law does not require an individual to provide this status to everyone they can meet, but what we can prove is that it is reckless in terms of communication, knowing all these facts.”
