Rayner’s resignation is devastating blow for her and PM

This is devastating for Angela Rayner.

A difficult breeding and personal distress to climb the summits of the Labor Party and just to become the second Deputy Prime Minister, all over the government ended early in just 14 months.

It also has devastating effects for Sir Keir Starmer. There is a long list of unanswered questions.

When will a leadership choice take place? And who will stop? A candidate who wants to force the government to the left wing position, will he enter the ballot?

Or, as some believe that the Workers’ Rules book allowed, can the cabinet determine a temporary deputy among the numbers that will be permanently assigned over time?

Does Sir Keir commit a new leader to the Deputy Prime Minister to appoint a new leader? Do the new official want this, or do they prefer to build a new power base on Backbenches?

Can the Prime Minister visit Jeremy Corbyn’s attempt to eliminate the leadership assistant? This morning he went inside. They acknowledged that this would be a terrible look, but perhaps at least it would be a terrible option.

Who will be the new housing secretary? They will be responsible for presenting one of the government’s most ambitious and important commitments, Housebuilding policy.

Will the Prime Minister use this as an opportunity to make a much wider jolt of the cabinet and the ministry team? Or will he want to minimize political drama?

We will start to find the answers of some of these questions in the coming hours and days.

It will take longer to answer other questions, such as Rayner’s resignation on the popularity of the government.

It is safe to say that the “second stage” of Sir Keir’s government does not need to begin.
