Man ‘stabs’ wife to death at Kadiri Government Hospital

A woman, who applied for treatment at the government hospital in Kadiri in Sri Sathya Sai district, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in the hospital premises in the early hours of Wednesday.

The late Sunitha, a resident of Maddannavaripalle in Mudigubba mandal in the district, was married to Gangaraju of Yedulapalle village a decade ago. The couple was living in Bengaluru while visiting Maddannavaripalle on weekends.

Kadiri Circle police said Gangaraju was suspicious of his wife’s fidelity, which led to frequent arguments between the couple. It was reported that Sunitha was injured after a fight broke out between the two on Tuesday night and was taken to Kadiri Government Hospital by her family members.

Around midnight, an argument broke out between Gangaraju and Sunitha’s relatives at the hospital. Allegedly, around 3 am on Wednesday, Gangaraju returned, convinced Sunitha that he would shift her to a private hospital and escorted her out of the ward. Gangaraju allegedly stabbed her multiple times at the exit gate, killing her on the spot, before escaping from the hospital building. The incident stunned hospital staff and patients.

Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar said special teams have been formed to trace the accused.
