Woman arrested after allegedly tattooing her toddler

Kentucky authorities arrested a woman accused of giving her 22-month-old child a tattoo.

According to a statement from the Adair County Regional Jail, the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Brook McDaniel, was taken into custody by the Kentucky State Police (KSP) last Monday.

During the home visit, investigators discovered the family was living in “deplorable” conditions and found the toddler with a blackhead tattoo on his arm and visible redness surrounding the area, local outlet LEX 18 said reportedquote from a uniform quote.

Eyewitnesses told investigators that McDaniel claimed to have given the child a tattoo while he was tattooing himself.

According to arrest documents, McDaniel was taken into custody in Monticello after authorities reportedly received a complaint of child abuse.

According to Lex 18, troopers said the suspect admitted to the allegations when confronted.

McDaniel told authorities that while he was tattooing his own leg, the boy allegedly “walked towards him and put his arm in front of the tattoo gun.”

As a result, soldiers reportedly discovered “a blackhead tattoo on his right forearm with redness around it.”

Some witnesses described the marking as a “party spot” (a term commonly used to describe a single small dot) and claimed the toddler “wanted a tattoo,” the outlet reported.

Police reportedly contacted the Department of Community Based Services because of the “deplorable” conditions investigators said they found at the home.

McDaniel was arrested and transported to the Adair County Regional Jail. He is charged with fourth-degree assault (child abuse).
