Real reason Prince Harry and Meghan named their son Archie | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the name of their newborn son just days after his birth in May 2019; Many royal fans have been eagerly awaiting details about the couple’s first child. Unlike many royal babies born before them, the couple opted for a cute name that had not been used in the Royal Family before.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is now six years old and although he was born in the UK, he currently lives in the US with his parents and his four-year-old younger sister, Princess Lilibet. It was widely believed that Harry wanted to name his son after a special person in his military career.

The 41-year-old man was serving in the army alongside Major Tom Archer-Burton, commonly known as ‘Archie’.

Harry has previously thanked Archie for saving his career, especially when he was told he couldn’t fight in Iraq in 2007.

He later encouraged Harry to remain in the armed forces, even helping to keep the news of his deployment in a war zone hidden from the public.

A source speaking days after Prince Archie’s birth Sun: “It is well known in military circles and Archie’s inner circle that baby Archie salutes him.

“The two men were in regular contact and Archie met most of Harry’s family, including Meghan.”

The insider added: “It’s an incredible honour, but Archie is an incredibly humble man and won’t make a big deal out of it.”

Two years after Archie’s birth, Meghan and Harry welcomed their second child, a daughter, in 2021.

The late Queen Elizabeth II The nickname used by Elizabeth, Lilibet, was named in honor of her beloved great-grandmother.
