Xavi Simons: Netherlands and Tottenham midfielder to miss rest of season and 2026 World Cup

Simons’ injury comes as Spurs struggle to survive in the Premier League.

Tottenham, on the other hand, is in 18th place in the relegation zone and is two points behind with four matches remaining.

The 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, will start on June 11, and the Netherlands will start its fight in Group F with Japan on June 14.

“All I ever wanted to do was fight for my team and now my ability to do that has been taken away from me with the World Cup,” added Simons.

“Representing my country this summer… is just over. It will take time to make peace with it, but I will continue to be the best teammate I can be. I have no doubt that we will win this challenge together.”

“Now, as I count the days to get back there, I will walk this path with strength, endurance and faith, under the guidance of faith.

“Be patient with me.”
