US Designates Balochistan Liberation Army, Majeed Brigade As Foreign Terrorist Organisation | World News

Today, the US State Department officially called the Balochistan Liberation Army (Blas) and the nickname Majeed Brigade (FTO). The Majeed Brigade was also a nickname for Blat’s appointment of the previously specific global terrorist (SDGT) released in 2019.

This measure confirms the US determination to resist terrorism, and such appointments serve as an important function in deterring terrorist operations. FTO appointments enter into force after being published in the federal record.

Blas has participated in more than one terrorist attack since its first SDGT appointment. In 2024, the organization took responsibility for suicide attacks other than Karachi Airport and Gwadar Port Authority Complex. Later, in March 2025, he took responsibility for the abduction of the Jaffar Express train between Blat, Quetta and Peshaver. The attack killed 31 security guards and civilians and took more than 300 hostages on the train.
