Reeves says Labour does not need to raise taxes in resurfaced clip | News

Rachel Reeves has vowed not to increase taxes in the Budget in a resurfaced clip shown by Kemi Badenoch.

In the clip dated 4 November 2024, the Chancellor told Sky News’ Sir Trevor Phillips that the Labor government “doesn’t need to raise taxes further”.

Ms Badenoch, who shared the footage on social media, said: “If they break this promise today the Government will lose what little credibility they have left. No one should ever trust them again.”

On Wednesday (November 26) the Chancellor is expected to announce a series of tax increases as he looks to plug an estimated £30bn black hole in the public finances.
