Nothing to link Banbury gang-rape to migrant accommodation, police say | Oxfordshire

There is no information to connect a woman’s rape by a group of men in a Banbury Church garden to accommodation, the police said they were trying to suppress online speculation.

Thames Valley police said that the woman in her 30s was raped by a group of men by a group of men during a night around the St Mary Church and Banbury City Center.

One of the criminals was reported to be a white man.

In a later statement, the power said: “We are aware of the speculation circulating about the possible ethnic origin or origin of the individuals connected to this event. At this stage, the relevant ones do not have a more confirmed explanation and any assumption made is unquestionable and does not harm the investigation.”

“At this stage, we can confirm that there is no information to connect this investigation to the immigrant accommodation unit. We call on the public to avoid speculation.”

Officers had previously objected to a “good samaritan kadın woman who tried to stop the attack.

DS Mark Personius said: “This is a terrible crime and Thames Valley police conduct a comprehensive investigation to identify criminals. We support the victim especially with educated officers.

“The city center would be busy in the early hours of a Saturday night on a Saturday night. Therefore, I would appeal to everyone who saw or heard something between 12.00 and 2.30 in the morning.”

The church canceled the Parish Euchaist of Sunday. Rev Serena Tajima told the BBC that the church was upset by hearing the terrible incident that took place in our cemetery ”.

He said: “Our prayers are sacrificed in this difficult time.” “We had an early music festival that weekend and… Just a few hours later, it gets worse to think that this terrible thing happened.”
