Youth Murdered, Body Dumped In Borewell In Prakasam

Police claimed on Wednesday that a teenager was killed and his body was thrown into a borewell in Yerragondapalem town of Prakasam district.

According to Markapuram DSP U. Nagaraju, the victim, Digudu Anjaneyulu, attended a wedding in Indiramma Colony on May 13 and went missing after returning home that night.

His brother-in-law, Challa Venkata Rao, filed a missing complaint with the police on May 16 after searching for him unsuccessfully for three days.

During the investigation, the police detained two suspects, Avula Venkata Narayana and Avula Ravana, near an intersection in Yerragondapalem after finding their movements suspicious.

Police said the suspect confessed during interrogation. According to investigators, the duo allegedly found Anjaneyulu in a compromising situation with their daughter after returning home on the night of May 13. The enraged duo allegedly attacked him with an iron pan, killing him on the spot.

Police said the accused initially hid the body. Later, when bad smells started coming from the body, they allegedly carried the body to a remote area, dismembered it, and threw the remains into a borehole to destroy the evidence.

The police caught the two suspects and launched an investigation into the incident.

DSP Nagaraju praised Circle Inspector K. Ajay Kumar and SI Devakumar for quickly solving the murder case.

3 people were detained in Kadapa, 1,600 kilos of marijuana were seized

Police seized a large cache of ganja near Nanapalli in Kadapa district on Wednesday morning as part of a major crackdown on narcotics. Acting on certain intelligence data, Chinna Chowk police conducted special raids and seized approximately 1,600 kilograms of marijuana.

3 people were arrested in connection with the incident. The accused were identified as Madhav, Sake Shankar and Manoj Kumar from Kamalapuram. Police said the trio was allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of contraband.

A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the NDPS Act and further investigation is on to ascertain whether more people were involved in the extortion. Police are also investigating whether additional stocks of cannabis are being stored elsewhere.

Authorities reiterated that strict measures will be taken against those involved in illegal drug trafficking. Citizens were asked to share suspicious information by calling the emergency helpline 112.

Missing case becomes challenging for Kadapa police

The disappearance of a woman with her three children turned into a challenging case for the Kadapa police, and despite intensive search efforts, no progress was made.

According to police sources, it was claimed that the woman could not stand her husband’s harassment and left her home. The family members later lodged a complaint with the Kadapa Taluk police, following which a missing case was registered.

Hussain, a resident of Kadapa, works at a chicken shop in the city. Police reported that his 35-year-old wife left home with her three children on April 10. Their whereabouts have been unknown since then.

Despite the efforts of relatives to trace the family, no information could be obtained. A formal complaint was later lodged with police on Tuesday, prompting authorities to intensify the investigation.

While police teams have been dispatched throughout the district, efforts are continuing to find the missing persons by examining CCTV images and analyzing mobile phone location data. However, authorities said that no concrete clues have emerged so far.

Police described the case, which has remained unsolved for several weeks, as a major challenge for the department.

Two students went missing in Nagavali River

The disappearance of two children while swimming in the Nagavali River in Srikakulam district on Wednesday triggered a search operation by police and fire personnel.

The incident took place at Pedaganagallavanipeta in Srikakulam Rural mandal, where three Class X students from Gudiveedi village had gone to bathe in the river.

It was reported that the children entered the water near the confluence of the Nagavali River, known for its strong currents, where it meets the sea. While a student named Manikanta managed to escape safely, her classmates Sai Tharak, 15, and Leela Krishna, 15, were swept away by the current.

Police and fire teams started an operation to find the missing children. The incident caused concern among local residents.

It was alleged that a man accused of harassing a married woman was paraded by shaving half his face in Gadekal village in Vidapanakal mandal of Anantapur district by the villagers following repeated complaints of harassment.

The incident came to light on Wednesday when videos of the parade went viral on social media.

According to sources, the young man was allegedly harassing the married woman in the name of love for the last few days. It was alleged that despite the warnings of the woman’s husband and family members, the woman continued to follow and harass her whenever she stepped out of the house.

The villagers, upset by the repeated harassment, reportedly gathered and decided to confront the accused. They allegedly caught him in the village, half-shaved his head and staged a parade with drums.

Sources said that slippers and brooms were tied around him as he was taken around the village to warn against harassment against women.

After the videos spread on social media, Vidapanakal police went to the village and detained the suspect. Police are investigating the incident.

Young railway engineer accused of serial train theft

Railway police have arrested a railway engineer for allegedly carrying out a series of thefts targeting passengers traveling on trains. Guntakal Railway DSP Srinivasachari identified the accused as P. Balaraju, a native of Yadiki in Anantapur district.
DSP Srinivasachari told the media that the police had launched a special investigation following numerous complaints regarding thefts in trains in the last few days. “Special teams were formed to investigate the incident and the accused were identified with the help of CCTV footage,” DSP said.
According to the police, Balaraju allegedly targeted passengers while they were asleep during train journeys. He is suspected of stealing bags, cash, gold jewellery, mobile phones and other valuables from passengers.

Police said the defendant claimed that after removing valuables from the stolen bags, he destroyed the evidence by burning the remaining items. During the operation, the police seized 20 tons of gold jewelry, 20 thousand cash, 13 mobile phones and 6 tablets from the defendants. Police are now confirming whether the accused was involved in reported thefts on other railway divisions.
