Venezuela claims US operation to capture Maduro left 100 dead

A Venezuelan official claims that 100 people were killed in the US operation to capture President Nicolás Maduro.
Venezuelan interior minister Diosdado Cabello announced the figure late on Wednesday, according to Reuters, adding that the Venezuelan military had released a list of 23 names of those killed.
The official spokesman for Cuba’s ruling Communist Party also confirmed on Tuesday that 32 members of its armed forces were killed during the US military operation over the weekend.

According to Reuters, Cabello added that Maduro was injured in his leg during the capture, and Maduro’s wife, Cilia Flores, was injured in her head.
It was stated that Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodriguez declared a week of mourning for the dead soldiers.
An administration official told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that seven US soldiers were injured in the operation.

While five of these soldiers have returned to duty, two are still recovering.
“They are receiving excellent medical care and are on the road to recovery,” the official said. “The fact that this extremely complex and demanding mission was successfully accomplished with so few injuries is a testament to the expertise of our partner warfighters.”
On Saturday, U.S. troops descended on Caracas, Venezuela, during a secret mission to strike Venezuelan territory and capture Maduro and his wife, known as Operation Absolute Resolve. The mission was led by Delta Force, the Army’s elite special operations unit.
The 32 military and police officers Cuba said were killed were part of a mission carried out at the request of the Venezuelan government, according to a statement from the Cuban government. On Tuesday, Cuba announced their names, ranks and ages.

“32 Cubans, victims of state terrorism and the new criminal act of aggression by the United States against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, lost their lives in clashes following violent resistance,” said a statement published by Granma, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba. The statement was included.
