Reporter’s Notebook: Hostages, peace hopes, and Gaza war’s brutal reality

NEWNow you can listen to FOX News articles!

I have been reporting from the Middle East for 25 years. And this hackneyed cliché still works…

This is not to say that this time it was boring for three weeks we stayed here. There were more ups and downs than a downward Roller Coaster in an old Luna Park.

Our first field shots were suitable enough to visit Hamas’s prisoners’ hostages and families. Because it is one of the most important issues for the majority of Israelis. 48 people held by terrorists, 20 are still alive. This is about 2 years in prison of the Gaza War.

On the 700th day of the captivity of the hostages, we met families. Lishay Lava-Mira begged her husband Omri to come home. The Liron Berman was sure that his twin brothers would do this (“strong”). And Keith Siegel, a hostage of nearly 500 days, looked beyond the Israeli government for help with articulated and healthy. “I call on Trump to continue his efforts.”

At the beginning of our stay, there was hope that a new peace plan from the United States could gain traction. The entire hostage would be released in return for 3,000 Palestinian prisoners and would take fire to assess the next steps.

Apparently the reasonable plan took hit in the left, right and center.

First of all, we learned as if we had finished a fast breakfast in our hotel. Two armed men who hit an intense suburban bus and bus stop in Jerusalem were six dead and more injured. The scenes were terrible and the actions of eliminating terrorists were brave.

Then the next morning, while I and I took a routine tour of the news on the hotel balcony we call the house, I noticed that he jumped up and down the private producer Yael in the corner of my eyes and in our studio room.

Israel was unimaginable, unimaginable aimed at the Hamas leadership in what should be the neutral region of Qatar Doha. The militants claimed that they had discussed the peace plan at that time. The US proposal died as much as the victim of Israelis managed to hit (apparently no leadership).

And then put in the last “paid” peace talks. Israel has initiated a very multi -scale place invasion of the Gaza City. To finish the remaining 3,000 Hamas fighters and infrastructures. As Netanyahu said, “What begins in Gaza (Ugly Hamas Massacre and 7 October hostage) ends in Gaza.”

And this emerges for our first -class war team of Gizzled war reporters and camera, like me, and the producer Yael and Security Rob’s first -class war team. As in the war, Israel limited access to Gaza action.

So we trust local journalists to show us the horror. Destroyed urban stage. And most importantly, the wide and ugly images of human suffering. Hundreds of thousands of civilians, many of which have to deal with the living hell imposed by terrorists and war on them are not Hamas supporters.

Do you remember the line “I wouldn’t want this in my worst enemy”? Perhaps I would go with him about Hamas, but not these poor Palestinian children who don’t know anything about the geopolitics of the situation.

According to loans, IDF officials tell us that they are slowly moving in the Moon view, which is currently Gaza. Be careful not to endanger civilians and /or hostages. Somehow, Hamas -backed local medical officials seem to be killed in a way that was already killed after 2 years of war.

However, according to the officials we talked about, it may take four months to complete the Gaza city process. It’s too long for morale -covered reserves fighting the war. It’s too long for residents based on everything. Very long for desperate hostages.

Unless there is a breakthrough.

The locals here should not be surprised to look at President Donald Trump and a series of countries, bodies, figures (yes, Pope Leo) to try to go beyond local leaders. The fight in Gaza is more like the trench war of the Ugly World War at the beginning of the 20th century.

Between our live shootings and reports in Tel Aviv, we sometimes throw this coastal metropolis – despite all of them, a few bars and restaurants that run full slopes. And they are wondering how this country will be, of course, how it will be for the various Palestinian population without a war yoke around their shoulders.

No answer this trip.
