Republicans in Congress mocked Trump privately, Marjorie Taylor Greene says | Marjorie Taylor Greene

Outgoing GOP House member Marjorie Taylor Greene said Sunday that congressional Republicans privately mocked Donald Trump but came out to support him when he wins their party’s 2024 White House nomination.
“I’ve seen a lot of my colleagues go from making fun of her, making fun of her speech, constantly making fun of me for supporting her, to all of them — sorry, Lesley — kissing her ass when she wins the primary in 2024,” Greene, a Republican from Georgia, said in a clip of an interview that will air on CBS Sunday. 60 Minutes program.
Greene told the 60 Minutes reporter that at this point, Republicans “decided to wear Maga hats for the first time,” referring to Trump’s “Make America great again” slogan.
Greene, once a staunch ally of Trump, has parted ways with the president and is leaving Congress in January. Trump called her a “traitor” and attacked her online, sparking a wave of threats against her.
In posts on X on Sunday, Greene said she had reported hundreds of threats to U.S. Capitol police. He added that these threats first came from those who oppose Trump on the US political left. But she later said the threats were directed at her and her son when she objected to Trump’s handling of files related to the prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein, the president’s former friend and disgraced sex offender and financier.
Epstein was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution and died by suicide while being jailed on federal sex trafficking charges in 2019 during Trump’s first presidency.

In the 60 Minutes interview, Greene said Republicans don’t criticize Trump publicly because they fear being targeted by him.
“I think they’re afraid of crossing the line and getting a bad Truth Social post thrown at them,” he said.
