ABC grilled over disappearing messages ban, risk to sources

The ABC has responded publicly in detail for the first time to its instructions to its journalists not to delete recordings or use disappearing messages when reporting on the Bondi terror attack or issues of antisemitism; because they are being investigated by the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion.

The order stems from a “freeze disposal notice” issued by the National Archives of Australia (NAA) to a number of government agencies, including the ABC and SBS.
