Revanth Going Slow on Palamuru To Please ‘Old Boss’ Babu: KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday said his party is more than ready to take on the government in the Assembly on any issue related to irrigation and wondered whether Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was moving slowly on the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme (PRLIS) to please his “former boss” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, fearing that the credit would go to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

“Revanth seems to be worried about drawing water from the Krishna river for the project lest it anger Chandrababu Naidu. That is why the project is not only kept in cold storage, even canals are not dug,” he said. Rama Rao, during a conversation with reporters in the Assembly, said that the neglect of PRLIS by the Congress was “deliberate”.

Rama Rao said accepting only 45 tmc ft water allocation for the project would be detrimental to Telangana. “Water management is not something that can be mastered by studying a file for four days; it requires love for the state,” Rama Rao said.

Rama Rao said that Revanth Reddy, who is besieged by allegations of corruption and irregularities, used abusive language to divert attention.

Regarding the GHMC demarcation, Rama Rao said there were widespread speculations about splitting the corporation into three parts and turning the so-called ‘Fourth City’ into a separate corporation. Rama Rao claimed that the “arbitrary restriction” appeared to be purely for financial gain and was allegedly done on the advice of merchant bankers and brokers.
