Revanth to speak to Rahul Gandhi on opening Parliament, Assembly doors for Gen Z

Proposing a new slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and Jai Yuva”, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the country should be ready to channel the energy of Generation Z, give them more political opportunities and would take the first step by suggesting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that the age of entry into the Legislative Assembly should be reduced to 21 years.

Mr. Reddy said the issue will be discussed with Mr. Rahul Gandhi and AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge during his visit to New Delhi on Monday (July 27). Mr Gandhi will be asked to meet INDI Bloc partners and other parties, the CM said during an informal chat with reporters here on Sunday.

The Telangana government will introduce a resolution in the Parliament in August this year, he said, adding that the Opposition may take the opportunity to introduce it as a Private Members’ Bill in Parliament to create pressure on the ruling party.

Mr. Reddy expressed his determination to introduce a resolution on this in the Telangana Assembly in August this year, stating that many senior figures in the party agreed with his idea. “We will send the resolution to the Center so that the proposal can be discussed along with the proposed Limitation Bill, Women Reservation Bill and increase in Lok Sabha seats.”

“If necessary, the proposal can be referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for consultations. Mr. Modi can no longer rely on one-way communication like Mann ki Baat on Radio, he can listen to the voice of the country.”

Mr. Reddy said the country was first in line for the Congress and hence he stayed away from leading the student movement for fear of the BJP calling it a politically motivated agitation.

Referring to the alleged irregularities in interpolation by Globarena during the BRS regime, he said that the cases filed were closed by the BRS government. However, the government has now sought legal advice on reopening the case following MLC’s complaint. The government will strictly act in accordance with the law.

Survey expectations

The Prime Minister downplayed poll reports claiming to be in favor of BRS and questioned whether a BRS-sponsored poll had predicted Congress’ victory. He said that it was ridiculous that our party’s polls were even conducted and the results were announced by BRS.
