UK’s first female archbishop tells of how she hid her sexuality for decades | Anglicanism

New Wales Archbishop, Most Rev Cherry Vann, the Anglican community as a part of the struggle to be regarded as a female minister in the Greek Congregation of sexuality has kept sexuality for decades.

In the 1990s, Vann said that he and a handful of other female priests began to meet with their male colleagues who opposed their duties for prayer and speech. “It was terrible, it was really hard for all of us, but we were stuck in it,” he said.

In time, hostility disintegrated. “This is what I hope around the issue of sexuality – modeling that we will not strongly participate in something, but we can still love each other in Christ and we can recognize each other as the children of God.”

Vann will grow with red and gold at the Newport’s cathedral in Newport that many people in the Church will end a turbulent period this autumn this autumn.
