80% of Abujhmarh Naxalites Surrendered, says SP Guria

According to SP Guria, the surrender of a large number of cadres in recent months has further weakened the Naxal networks in Abujhmarh district.
Speaking to ANI, SP Guria said, “Currently, about 80% of the Naxalites in Abujhmarh district have surrendered. About two-thirds of Abujhmarh district is under our control. There are some places where activities are still going on. We are working there through various operations. We will eliminate them soon.”
Meanwhile, Naxalite Suklal Jurri, who surrendered, said that he worked as a doctor in the Naxalite organization for nearly 20 years before surrendering to the police earlier this year.
Speaking to ANI, Jurri said, “I was working as a doctor and was saving people by treating them. I surrendered to the police on August 20, 2025. I joined the Naxalite organization in 2006, where I was trained in the field of medicine. I have been working for 19-20 years.”
“In 2025, the police started doing a lot of patrols and searches, after which I felt that we could only save ourselves by surrendering. Before, there was fear that we would not survive,” he added.
Earlier, Bastar Range Inspector General of Police P. Sundarraj said Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Chhattisgarh has entered its “final stages”, with security forces tightening their grip and a record number of cadres laying down arms to join the mainstream.
Highlighting the success of the state’s rehabilitation policy, Sundarraj, 2003 batch IPS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre, said: “Chhattisgarh’s rehabilitation policy is very effective. More than 2,200 Naxals have joined the mainstream in the last 20 months. These surrendered Naxals are given skill development training to help them integrate into society after rehabilitation.”
On the operational front, he said the focus is now on the three most sensitive districts – Bijapur, Sukma and Narayanpur – which are considered the last strongholds of Maoists.
“In other parts of Bastar district, the entire cadre force has been dealt with, so either they have joined the mainstream or legal action has been taken against them. Security forces are on duty and we are hopeful that we can completely eliminate LWE in Bijapur, Sukma and Narayanpur,” Sundarraj said.
Referring to recent successes, he noted that as part of the state’s comprehensive action plan, over 450 Naxal bodies have been recovered in the last two seasons, and more than 200 Naxals have surrendered recently.
“Logistics supply systems have been badly affected and the network has been destroyed. We hope that very soon there will be no Maoists left in the country,” he added.
