Rex’s new owners may ‘strip it bare’. There’s a better way to save it

The future of Regional Express Airlines or Rex, Australia’s third largest airline, now depends on: an offer from Air T Inc., a little-known US company. It is a North Carolina aviation conglomerate known for its aircraft maintenance and cargo services rather than operating passenger airlines.
But while Air T operates cargo flights for FedEx and charter flights, it’s unclear whether it has the financial stomach or capacity to fund fleet renewal. $400 million – Rex is needed next year as there is no innovative financing plan.
