Joondalup-Edgewater bushfire downgraded to advice alert

The bushfire in Edgewater and Joondalup was downgraded this afternoon following the introduction of bushfire watches and legislation for suburbs north of Perth, near Edith Cowan University and Lake Joondalup.
At 4:50 p.m., a vigil and ordinance were issued for residents in the area between Edgewater Drive, Outlook Drive, Treetop Boulevard, Joondalup Drive and Lakeside Drive.
The fire has since been downgraded to alert at 5.37pm.
The wildfire is moving in a northeasterly direction but remains contained and under control.
WHAT SHOULD WE DO
- Continue to be careful and monitor your surroundings.
- Watch for signs of wildfire, especially smoke and flames.
- Be aware of other potential hazards such as falling trees and damage to property and infrastructure.
- If smoke worries you, close all doors and windows and stay inside.
- Be prepared if the situation worsens. Read your plan thoroughly. If you don’t have a plan, make it now Emergency WA or Emergency WA app.
If you are driving
- Turn on your headlights and drive slowly.
- Follow emergency personnel and follow their instructions.
- If you can’t see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on and wait until the smoke clears.
