Forlesia Cook urges voters to abandon party loyalty after defending Trump

A Washington, D.C. grandmother who passionately defended President Donald Trump against accusations of racism at a Black History Month event shared a message for residents of Democrat-run, crime-plagued cities.
“Stop voting party,” Forlesia Cook said on “Hannity” on Thursday. “Vote for the causes, vote for the people you see making changes, vote for the right changes that keep us safe.”
Cook, who lost his son to gun violence in 2017, praised Trump at a Black History Month celebration at the White House on Wednesday and defended Trump against critics who called him a racist.
“I love him. I don’t want to hear anything you have to say about these racist things,” he said. “Also, don’t look at me on the news and hate me because I’m standing with someone who deserves to be defended. Back off the guy. Let him do his job. He’s doing the right thing. Back off from him.”

“And my grandmother said it!”
In 2017, Cook’s 22-year-old grandson, Marty William McMillan Jr. He was shot multiple times and dumped on the side of a Maryland highway.
McMillan’s body was found months after his death. Seven years later, his killer was convicted of premeditated murder and sentenced to 16 years in prison.
“It was really amazing that they were interested enough in my grandson’s case to hear about it because that’s what I’m rallying for, that’s the purpose of our protest.” [was] “Because that’s what I advocated for, to change the laws,” Cook said. “The laws need to change.”
Cook praised President Trump’s efforts to reduce crime in the capital, arguing that some misunderstood Trump’s vision on crime. Cook said the tragedy of losing his grandson made clear Trump’s plan.

“I see his vision,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “I know what you did, a lot of people look at it the wrong way. But tell me this, if your loved one was killed and you couldn’t get justice, would you look at it differently?”

Grandma urged Americans to unite on important issues rather than partisan loyalty.
“When I vote for someone, I’m voting for issues,” Cook said. “I vote for causes; I advocate for causes, and we need to transcend party and race.”
