Rob and Michele’s Reiner’s bodies released to their family

The bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner were returned to their families on Friday, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed in a statement to Fox News Digital.
The couple had three children: son Jake and daughter Romy, and son Nick Reiner, who was charged Dec. 16 with two counts of first-degree murder.
On Sunday, December 14, Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood home. Michele and Rob died from multiple sharps injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.

The initial report stated that other significant conditions also contributed to their deaths. Coroners determined December 14 as the day Reiners died and listed their deaths as homicides.

After Nick was officially charged, a press conference was held.
“These charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.”
“He also faces a special allegation of personal use of a dangerous and deadly weapon, such as a knife,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said at a news conference. “These charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.”
No decision has been made regarding requesting the death penalty.

Nick appeared in court Wednesday for the first time since being charged.

Nick, 32, sat behind glass in the courtroom wearing a suicide prevention vest. He wasn’t wearing a shirt under his blue vest that reached his knees. Nick’s hands and feet were chained.
On December 17, Romy and Jake shared a statement to Fox News Digital about their parents’ death.

“Words cannot describe the unimaginable pain we experience every moment of every day. The terrible and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something no one should ever have to experience,” Jake and Romy began.

“They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends. We are grateful for the condolences, kindness and support we have received not only from family and friends, but from people from all walks of life. We ask for respect and privacy now, we ask for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
Nick’s trial is scheduled for January 7, 2026.
