Robber threatens Asda staff with needles and bottle of wine | News

A man threatened Asda staff with needles and a wine bottle during a “horrific” robbery in Southampton, newly released footage shows.
Stuart Andrew Westwood, 38, of no fixed abode, walked into the supermarket in Millbrook Road West and began filling a carrier bag with produce on January 21.
When staff approached and challenged him he immediately became aggressive, pulling several needles from his pocket and began threatening store staff and shouting phrases such as “Don’t touch me, I’ll stab you”, a court heard.
Westwood also grabbed a bottle of wine, held it above his head and ran towards staff, threatening to use it as a stick.
The suspect, who pleaded guilty to robbery, was sentenced to 22 months in prison at Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, April 1.
PC Sophie Wellstead, who is investigating, said: “This was a frightening incident for the staff involved who were confronted by a man who used a needle and a glass bottle to threaten them while at work.”
