Rochdale fire LIVE: Huge blaze rips through building as ‘avoid area’ warning issued | UK | News

Emergency services are responding to a building fire in Rochdale as locals are told to avoid the area. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) responded to reports of a fire at a commercial building on Mellor Street at 3.15am. Fire crews are at the scene this morning. A cordon has since been established between Spotland and the city centre, across the street and nearby College Road.
A GMFRS spokesman said: “Shortly after 3.15am this morning, a number of fire engines, including a hydraulic platform, were called from Oldham to tackle a fire at a commercial building near Mellor Street in Rochdale. Crews extinguished the fire using two ultra-high pressure lances and two hose reels. They worked alongside Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service to ensure the area was safe.”
