Rohit Sharma 2.0 Avataar Ready to Dominate IPL: Anil Kumble

“Rohit Sharma seems to have reached his 2.0 avatar and his batting has shown that he is ready to dominate again. The way he hits the ball everywhere reminds me of his best times,” Kumble said on ‘Star Sports’. he said.

“It’s not easy to score a six against bowlers like Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Blessing Muzarabani but he made it look easy. He has worked hard on his fitness and when you come back after a short break, it takes five to seven days to get your timing back and find your rhythm.”

“It was a great knock! The six looked easy and although the boundaries were small, the shots were heading towards the stands. This knock shows that Rohit is serious and this version of his will worry all the IPL teams,” he added. Having missed some key bowlers due to injury, KKR relied heavily on spinners Narine and Chakravarthy to put in a good performance, but neither of them could deliver on Sunday.

“KKR is relying too much on Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy and Narine did not even complete his quota of four overs, which was surprising. The disappointing part was that Ajinkya Rahane did not include him in the Powerplay while Rohit and Rickelton were attacking,” he noted. “When Narine came in, the damage was already done. Narine and Varun were the bowlers who could challenge MI but they did not bowl enough together. It was at this point that KKR missed their chance to get back into the game.

“They need to use their resources better. Their fast bowling unit looks inexperienced, but when you have two top-class spinners you have to use them well.”
