Romania becomes second Nato country to detect Russian drones in airspace

Romania said that a Russian drone violated the airspace – the second NATO country that declares such an attack.

The Ministry of Defense said that Romanian fighter planes watched a Russian attack in Ukraine on Saturday and can watch a drone close to the southern border of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the attack could not be a mistake – “a obvious expansion of the war by Russia”. Moscow did not comment on Romania’s allegations.

On Wednesday, Poland said he shot at least three Russian planes entering the airspace.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, “Ukrainian infrastructure in the Danube, Russian air strikes” after two F-16 jets of the country’s Ukrainian borders when the Russian drone detected.

The drone was detected 20km (12.4 miles) in the village of Chilia Veche before disappearing from the radar.

However, the ministry said that it did not fly over populated areas or poses a close danger.

Poland also responded to concerns about Russian drones on Saturday.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, “Preventive operations of aviation – Polish and allies – began in our airspace.” He said.

“Ground -based air defense systems have reached the highest preparation status.”

At the beginning of this week, the Russian Ministry of Defense said there was no “plan” to target the facilities in the Poland soil.

Belarus, a nearby Russian ally, said that the drones of the drones entering the Poland airspace on Wednesday were an accident after the navigation systems were stuck.

In response to the latest attacks, President Zelensky said that the Russian army knew exactly where the drones are going and how much they can work in the air.

He asked Western countries to constantly tighten the sanctions in Moscow.

US President Donald Trump said that it was “ready” to impose harsh sanctions against Russia, and at the beginning of this week, he focused on violation of the airspace.

In February 2022, Russia launched a full -scale Ukraine invasion and made slow progress on the battlefield.

Trump led efforts to end the war, but President Vladimir Putin has intensified the attacks on Ukraine since he returned from a summit with Trump last month in Alaska.
