Royal announces engagement just six months after divorce | Royal | News

A royal has announced her engagement just six months after her divorce from her first wife was finalized. Crown Prince Leka II, head of the House of Zog that once ruled Albania, shared the happy news after proposing to Blerta Celibashi over the weekend.

This may come as a surprise to some, as Leka divorced Crown Princess Elia earlier this year after ending their eight-year marriage last year. They share a daughter together named Geraldine.

The Royal Court of Albania said Leka and Blerta celebrated their engagement on October 11, the crown prince said on his official social media account on Sunday.

The statement said: “The Royal Family is pleased to announce the engagement of His Royal Highness the Albanian Crown Prince Leka II and Miss Blerta Celibashi.

“The engagement was joyfully celebrated on October 11, 2025 in Ksamil, southern Albania, in the presence of family and close friends.

“The Royal Family shares its happiness with the Albanian people and expresses its sincere gratitude to all who sent their well-wishers on this joyful occasion.”

The date of the wedding has not been determined yet.

News of the engagement comes nearly a year after the prince first went public with his current fiancee in September 2024.

The couple had their first official engagement together just a month ago.
