Andrew Mountbatten Windsor will face major embarrassment as the ban is lifted by Parliament this week. The 65-year-old has been stripped of his royal titles, including that of prince, and will soon leave the 30-room Royal Lodge, which has been his home since 2003.

Liberal Democrat MPs will press the Government over Andrew’s Royal Lodge regulations when Parliament returns from a short recess on Tuesday. This will include advice provided by ministers on the size of the amount to be paid for clearing the property.

Traditionally, MPs are not allowed to criticize royals in the House of Commons. However, with the recent news of his title being revoked, Andrew is now a public figure. According to parliamentary officials, he has now lost immunity from scrutiny.
