Prince Harry reportedly forced King Charles to choose between him and Prince William with a grand invitation. The 41-year-old is thought to have asked his father to appear on stage with him for the opening of the 2027 Invictus Games, scheduled to be held in Birmingham next summer.
But with Harry’s ongoing feud with William, 43, the invitation could force the King to “choose between his warring sons”. According to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, she believes the King “will want to support” Harry despite the huge dilemma – especially since the Games are his “greatest achievement”.
he said Mirror: “Invictus has become such a big deal. It’s Harry’s great cause and his greatest achievement, and every father wants to support his son as the games come to the UK. But it’s not easy for the King; unfortunately for him family matters never are.”
“This could be a classic example of a father having to choose between his warring sons. We can only imagine how William would feel if Charles openly showed his support behind the games and Harry.” Thanks to William’s support for the Firm during both his and Princess Catherine’s cancer diagnoses, she added: “It would be difficult to see his father standing on a public platform to salute Harry’s success. But that’s the dilemma the King may face.”
