Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said the Sangh does not support any political party but instead actively supports “policies” that are in line with national interest. He emphasized that “RSS supports Rashtraneeti and not Rajneeti”. Speaking at the two-day conference series titled ‘100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons’ in Bengaluru, the RSS Chief said: “We do not support any political party. We do not participate in vote politics, existing policies, electoral politics etc. Sangha is about uniting the society and politics is divisive in nature, so we stay out of politics. We support policies and will use our power to support the right policy, especially now that we are a force. Not an individual, not a political party.” party but politics.”
Citing the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya as an example, he said, “We wanted to have the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. So our Swayamsevaks supported those who stood for the construction. He explained that the Sangh’s approach stems from unity and inclusiveness within the idea of a common national identity. “Muslims come to Shakha, Christians come to Shakha; they routinely come to Shakha, like other castes in Hindu society. But we do not take their numbers and do not ask who they are. We are all sons of Bharat Mata. That is how the Sangha works,” he added. Celebrating the centenary of RSS, the lecture series focused on the organisation’s vision, legacy and its evolving role in shaping India’s cultural and social identity.
