Rubio and Witkoff to meet Ukrainian negotiators on peace talks in Florida

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to meet with Ukrainian negotiators in Florida on Sunday to lay the groundwork for the latest peace talks in Geneva and work out the remaining details of the agreement reached last week.
The Florida meeting took place after Ukraine’s top negotiator Andriy Yermak resigned on Friday after anti-corruption agencies raided his home. There is Ukraine chaotic in an alleged $100 million kickback corruption scheme linked to state-owned nuclear energy company Energoatom.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “Dialogue based on the Geneva points will continue. Diplomacy continues to be active. The American side is taking a constructive approach and it is possible to detail steps to determine how to bring the war to an honorable end in the coming days.” he said. “The Ukrainian delegation has the necessary directives and I expect the men to work in line with Ukraine’s clear priorities.”
