Ruby Wax, 72, ‘is being lined up for I’m A Celebrity’: Actress and comedian is in ‘advanced talks’ to fly out to Australia for new series next month

TV icon Ruby Wax is reportedly lined up to appear in the next series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The 72-year-old actress and comedian is thought to be in advanced talks with ITV before flying to Australia for the new series, which starts next month.

Ruby rose to fame in 1985 in the ITV comedy series Girls On Top and has appeared as an interviewer on programs such as the BBC’s Ruby Meets Wax.

A source told Sun on joining the show: ‘Ruby is an absolute TV legend and brings real gravitas to this year’s cast.

‘He’s interviewed some of the biggest stars in the world, so he’ll have no trouble getting to know his campmates.

‘It will be great TV for viewers.’

The 72-year-old actor and comedian is thought to be in advanced talks with ITV before flying to Australia for the new series, which starts next month (hosts Ant and Dec have been spotted)

A spokesperson for the show told the Daily Mail: ‘Any names suggested for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here are mere speculation.’

Last week Christine McGuinness risked the wrath of ITV bosses after confirming exclusively to the Daily Mail that she would appear in the upcoming series just weeks after quitting Celebs Go Dating.

Over the weekend ITV released the first teaser trailer ahead of the upcoming series.

The first trailer for the new series was released on Saturday, and it was announced that there are only three weeks until it returns to the screens, which indicates that the first episode will be on November 16.

Playing off the lyrics of the classic Christmas poem A Visit from St Nicholas, the trailer showed a festive scene filled with stockings and Christmas cards.

The narrator then begins: ‘It was an October night and creatures were stirring all over the house, I don’t mean a mouse’.

A giant spider was seen crawling on stage before the show’s iconic theme music began.
